One of my weakness is seeing my dog unhappy with those pleading eyes. As I snack on a tasty snack, it's very difficult to resist feeding Sam my dog with just a tiny bite. However what we look upon as good "people foods" can be a big threat to the health of your poor unsuspecting dog.

For years, dog experts have all agreed that feeding table scraps to your dog has the potential to poison. While there are a number of good dog treat recipes out there, you must be careful not to use ingredients that are considered to be harmful to your pet. One such ingredient is grapes.

Grapes are known to be very dangerous to the dog's kidneys and can be fatal.

Since there is no idea the number of grapes likely to be poisonous, at least 5 or less grapes could harm a dog that weighs about 20 pounds.

How does one know that your dog has eaten this harmful poison in grapes?

In a span of 24 hours, the following may be noticed, the dog may start vomiting, appear weak and have diarrhoea. At times these symptoms may even start within a few hours of eating the grapes. Your dog may urinate a lot less which is a sign of kidneys failing.

Is there anything that can be done now?

On suspicion that your dog has consumed some poison found in foods visit your veterinarian immediately. Most likely your dog will be carefully checked and be given plenty of water to drink till this condition is controlled.

To stop this attack do not give your dog "people food". Get various tasty ingredients (suited for dogs) keeping in mind that this is not just a dog treat but also a healthy tasty snack for your pet.
