One of the most important protective gears that you should have when playing paintball is a paintball mask. It gives you confidence to stand face-to-face with the opponent without the fear of getting shot in the face. It also stops the paint from getting into your eyes, nose, mouth, or ears since ingesting paint can be toxic to the body.

Paintball masks also prevent eye injuries. Without it, paintball markers can cause considerable eye damage possibly making you go blind. Markers have the speed of up to 300 feet per second. A paintball mask also helps you see better while playing. IT would be best to consider purchasing a mask that would give you 120 degrees vision for a wider view range on the field.

It may also happen that your face moisture evaporates onto your mask especially when it is colder outside the mask than it is near your face. It is advisable to get a paintball mask that has thermal lenses or anti-lenses. This will help you maintain a clear vision while playing. Thermal lenses consist of two lenses with a thin air pocket in between that acts as a barrier for the moisture from your face and the outside temperature.

Some paintballs masks lenses would be tinted to act like sunglasses and shield your eyes from the glare of the sun or the light. A paintball mask could also prevent head trauma and other head injuries caused by falling or tripping.

Make sure that you want to play paintball first before purchasing anything. Test some masks to check what paintball mask really works for you. It is not necessary to purchase something that you wouldn't need. If you really want to get in the game, make sure that the paintball mask you purchase is actually your size. It should cost from $20 to $100.

Get a paintball mask in a darker color. Brighter colors make it easier for your opponent to spot you in the field, making you an easy target. It does not have to be in camouflage. Darker colors will do.

Also make sure that your paintball mask covers your chin and your ears adequately. This is to make sure that the whole of your face is protected. You can also go for the paintball masks that cover the whole head. It resembles a motorcycle helmet but would have a different face. The mouth guard of your paintball mask must not hit your chest when you look down. This is to make sure that you can look in all directions with your mask on.

When you look down, your mouth guard must not touch your chest. Make sure that you can look in all directions comfortably when you have your paintball mask on. Also, the padding on your paintball mask is to be taken into consideration as well. It must be firmly glues onto your mask. The foam should take the shape of your face when you wear the mask but revert to its original form when you take it off.
