If you have a traditional water heater then, you should replace it with a new one because, the new water heater have a lot of things to offer. The technology has enhanced and has much more to give such as less energy consumption, durability, and automatic functioning.

Cheapest way of water heating is using a free energy resource, that is sun. You can use solar energy through solar heaters to boil your water. One other option is to use natural gas for this purpose as it is also a cheaper resource.

Sometimes, you set the knob of your heater somewhere between medium and high, but water temperature is less according to that, it means efficiency of your heater is degrading and you need to rectify it.

Generally, the temperature should not be set to maximum height, as it can burn your hands or may harm you. Just maintain the moderate level of temperature.

Develop a habit of turning off your heater or switching it to minimum possible point, whenever you go out for number of days.

If your water heater is not working properly and you feel that you can not continue with the same water heater any more. It is better to replace it or call a plumber to repair it. If you will try to do it yourself it could be little cumbersome and risky, so prefer to call a plumber.

You must be checking your pocket while calling a plumber. But keep in mind, this is not an area where you want to skimp or go with someone who has less experience. Because once you will call him he will help you in every possible way.

When you call an expert plumber, don't forget to ask him about the internal functioning of your water heater, means the current status of your heater, after how long it will again need a service? So, after that duration you can again pay attention and add years to its life.
