One of the best ways to instantly become the most popular person at any party you go to is by learning a few simple magic tricks. There is something about magic tricks that really impresses people. Maybe because most people love surprises, or we are always trying to figure out how things work. There are several different kinds of tricks you can do.

Probably the most popular trick for beginning magicians to learn is the sleight of hand trick. This is where you misdirect people's attention, and while they are looking at your right hand, you do something with your left. Pulling coins out of ears, and cards out of sleeves are some popular ones.

Another kind of trick is mathematical tricks that are used with a deck of cards. These tricks are based on pure math, and are easy to learn. Sometimes they are referred to as self working tricks, as they don't require any skill. Just that you practice the trick ahead of time. The cool thing about these tricks is that they are easy to learn. One drawback, however, is that once somebody figures them out, they lose their appeal.

A really impressive trick is when you can convince people that you are psychic. You can accurately guess peoples birthdays, guess what card they are thinking of, and even win at the game of rock-paper-scissors. This is really impressive because you don't even need a deck of cards, and works really well in bars or at parties where people have had a drink or two.

Of course, the most impressive tricks are the ones you do on stage. Like sawing people in half, or making yourself disappear, these are the ones that make the big money. Naturally, these require the most skill and preparation, so they are usually out of reach for those of us who only want to perform party magic.

Just by learning a couple magic tricks, you can really realize how popular you'll naturally become at parties and social gatherings. You'll never be at a loss for an invitation out on the weekend again.
