There is a magical way to liven up your garden or any area which you feel is dead and can do with sound and ambiance. Wind Chimes are an amazing tool to do just that. They are guaranteed to bring harmony to your life and usher in peace with soothing sounds.

Depending on your personal preference, whether it be bold sounds or soft tinkles, you can find sizes, styles and shapes suited for any garden or home.

Here are a few tips on how to get your started:

Before you rush out and buy your chimes, first do a small study of your garden. Take notes on where the wind blows the strongest and where there is a gentle breeze. Look at the direction of the wind. Does it tend to swirl around corners and certain trees and bushes? Which part of your garden has the most one directional wind? Your goal is to have chimes which will be soothing to your ears and not background noise which will irritate you.

The material most used on chimes are aluminum, glass and wood. All three give us vastly different sounds which is good news because now you can create many sounds that come together in the wind.

Try and play with height and depth. Place your chimes in a line, starting from the highest place in your garden (maybe a deck) and then place another chime lower (maybe on a tree) and then place a smaller one much lower (maybe in a flower bed) to create many different sounds at once. This will create a wind orchestra for you to sit back and enjoy.

It is also nice to change your chimes around at various intervals of the year. The seasons of the year offer us different winds at different speeds. Change their heights or even better, place objects in front of them or behind. Let the wind bounce of these objects to create a completely different sound from your chimes.

Chimes are a great way to dampen pesky traffic noise. Strategically placed where the noise is concentrated and combing them with a water feature can take away your problem. Tall plants and thick bushes can also help you alleviate noise.

You can really have so much fun with your wind Chimes by taking a bit of time to plan your musical masterpiece resonating from your garden. Remember to also place a small in your doorway as quests arrive and leave, they will be greeted with music.

There are quite of few different homemade hydroponics kits out there and if it is your intention to buy one, then be very sure of what you intend to grow with it as many of them can be used for any kind of crop. If you are new in the agricultural business and don't know how to start you can always look for homemade hydroponics in a local store but I must warn you that I haven't seen a very cheap one yet. Let's go ahead and take a little bit of a closer look at what is really needed for you to be successful in this venture instead.

What Do I Need For Homemade Hydroponics?

A tote is going to be the first thing that you need which is going to hold all your nutrients and minerals, and you also need a water pump in order to oxygenate the nutrients. An upper container will be used to hold several other smaller plant containers, in the container's bottom two holes must be made and used in the following way: one hole will support the flood and drain, and the other one must placed for the overflow pipe. A short tube is going to be connected to the bottom drain fitting from the water pump, and the water pump also needs to be hooked up to a timer clock. That is pretty much all there is to an effective homemade hydroponics set up. You need to set the timer on the pump to turn on for half an hour intervals four times a day.

If you got through the part of putting together a homemade hydroponics system, then you are about halfway there. The next biggest part is understanding the feeding process. The type of crop that you want to grow will determine the type of nutrients and minerals you need to get the results that you want.

A couple of things that will help you to be successful are a pH meter and an EC meter as these will both help to keep you up-to-date on the amount of nutrients and minerals that are in your system. Setting up a homemade hydroponics area is not something that is super easy to do is but something that can be done with a little bit of determination and willpower, and called the results can be seen.

You can get set up with a build your own homemade hydroponics set up really for a little expense and a little work. All you really need are two plastic totes that are of around a 32 L capacity, an air pump, and an aquarium water pump. The other items that are necessary include the fittings, the tubing, and the timer.

Hydroponics has become quite a hobby for many researchers, and the fact is that its importance is recognized even by NASA who uses this technique in providing fresh vegetables and to recycle air on the orbital space station.
